How The Gate Check is made
The Gate Check is produced by an AI-assisted editorial pipeline with a human editor in charge. We publish this page because you deserve to know exactly how the words you read here get written — and where the humans are in the loop.
The process
- Grounded research. Every piece starts from cited sources. Facts are extracted into a knowledge base with their citations attached; drafts must reference that grounded material. Unsupported claims are blocked before publication, not corrected after.
- Quality gates. Drafts are scored against an explicit editorial rubric — factual grounding, originality, clarity. Pieces that fail are revised or killed.
- Human approval. Nothing publishes without review and approval by our editor of record, Blake Harbert. Every published piece carries that accountability.
Labeling
Written content is AI-assisted and human-edited, and is labeled as such in each piece's byline area. Any AI-generated images, audio, or video carry the disclosure labels each platform requires (and our own, where platforms require none).
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct the piece and note the correction. Reply to any email or write to the editor to flag an error.
